On the incredible off chance that you haven't heard, Age of Stupid is the new climate film of the year. Rather than confining the premier to one cinema and a few celebrities, the premier is everywhere. There are too many venues to list here so see http://www.ageofstupid.net/premiere for the latest. Oscar-nominated Pete Postlethwaite stars as a man living alone in the devastated world of 2055, looking at old footage from 2008 and asking: why didn?t we stop climate change when we had the chance? The film moves beyond illustrating the problem to offer hope and the possibility of solutions to the crisis. Following on from the premier the film is released at cinemas from Friday 20th March - a wider cinema release, TV deals, DVD distribution etc all hinge on lots of people seeing the film in the first weekend. Bums on seats is what counts so see http://www.ageofstupid.net/weekone for details of where the film is happening and invite a friend. Or invite friends, family, acquaintances and sworn enemies alike! Many of the showings come with the added bonus of speaker appearances by Pete Postlethwaite, George Monbiot, Mark Lynas, director Franny Armstrong and others. ********* Thurs 19th March - Climate Change Day of Action, Coventry Starting at midday, Christian Aid are hosting a ?Day of Action?, beginning with a joint service with CAFOD at Coventry Cathedral, including a keynote speech from NASA scientist James Hansen. At 3 pm the day will conclude with a rally, alongside the World Development Movement, outside the headquarters of E.ON, the company behind the plan for a new coal-fuelled power station at Kingsnorth.
